Kinney Road past the Tucson Studios where many westerns were filmed. Visit to Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Lots of wildlife and an excellent hawk flyover show.

Day 4 Tubac to Tumacacori, AZ

Stayed at the beautiful Tubac Golf Resort which was the location where the movie Tin Cup was filmed. Nice ride to the Tumacacori National Park and a visit to the Tubac Art Festival. Explored north and west on my own this afternoon. Border Patrols were quite active.

Day 3 Sonoita to Patagonia, AZ

Visited the Kief-Joshua Vineyards winery for lunch and wine tasting today. They had a very friendly 140 pound blood-hound. The ride ended in Patagonia (AZ, not Argentina).

Tucson area bike ride

Greetings! Dona and I are enjoying a 6 day bicycle tour in the Tucson area February 5-10. Tom and Anne Rackerby invited us to join them on this tour with Vermont Bicycle Tours (VBT) but then Tom and Anne had to bail since Anne had a hip replacement. We're trying very hard to have fun inspite of the fact that they are not here.

The first day (Sunday, Feb 4th) was a transportation, bike fitting, and warm up ride day. We met the other riders (18 total) at the Tucson airport and shuttled to Hereford, AZ about 2+ hours SE of Tucson. Got fitted for the bikes and did an out and back ride of 15 miles from the Casa San Pedro B&B out in the middle of nowhere but an excellent place to stay. Glad that we're stay 2 nights and not just one. We returned to meet each other and have an excellent meal. Today's ride was from Casa San Pedro to the artist town of Bisbee and back. Since we're at the 4,000 foot level in elevation, the day started briskly at 38 degrees. We threw in jackets and long pants for cycling as a last thought. Tucson is supposed to be warm this time of year. It did warm up to mid 60's so we had excellent weather unless you don't like 15 mph headwinds for 10 miles. Bisbee "Keep Bisbee Bizarre" has the Bicycle Brothel (http://bisbeebicyclebrothel.com/), more of a museum than a shop. Lots of old bikes and memorability. Was surprised to see a Dilworth (Charlotte, NC) Criterium poster on the wall. Got a T-shirt.

Looking forward to dinner tonight which is slated to be a traditional (authentic) Mexican one.

I am a technical consultant in the cable television industry and will be representing the National Cable & Telecommunications Association at the June 10th workshop on 21st Century Emergency Alerting: Leveraging Multiple Technologies to Bring Alerts and Warnings to the Public. The workshop is co-sponsored by the FCC and FEMA and will be held in the FCC Commission Meeting Room from 9 AM to 1 PM. It is also available for live or delayed viewing online at www.fcc.gov/live.
